A Case of Insulinoma Localized by Endoscopic Ultrasonography and Intraoperative Ultrasonography

|
Insulinoma is a rare disorder which is characterized by fasting hypoglycemia. Preoperative localization of insulinoma is important since the tumor is usually small and difficult to detect by conventional techniques. We present a case of
55-year-old-female patient with insulinoma localized by means of endoscopic ultrasonography and intraoperative ultrasono-graphy. Abdominal ultrasonography, CT scanning, angiography and portal vein sampling could not detect the tumor. Exploratory
laparotomy revealed 1.5×1.0×1.0㎝ sized tumor mass in the transition site between body and tail of pancreas which is the site of preoperative localization. Histopathologic examination conformed the diagnosis of insulinoma.
